Mr. Neumann has been a music educator in Southern California and overseas for over 30 years. He has conducted institute orchestras at CSUN, CSULA, the University of Redlands, and Occidental College (Suzuki).
With music degrees from UCLA and Occidental College, Mr. Neumann has also done advanced study with composers Roy Harris and Barney Childs, as well as conducting with Larry Christianson and Herbert Blomstedt.
Mr. Neumann is a professional singer, having toured with
Roger Wagner, and has sung with the New York City Opera, the Los
Angeles Master Chorale, and on several movie soundtracks. He has also
sung at the Los Angeles Bach and the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festivals.
Mr. Neumann is Past-President of the Los Angeles Chapter
of the National Association of Church Musicians, and is currently Music
Director at the First United Methodist Church of Whittier.
Additionally, he co-conducts the Pasadena Summer Youth Chamber
Orchestra.
Mr. Neumann is a composer whose works are published with Cantus Quercus Press. Three of his concert band compositions and a brass quintet have been recently premiered, and one of his chamber works was broadcast over KUSC.
